Moruya Jockey Club

Moruya is located 300km (3 hours) south of Sydney and 180km (2 hours) east of Canberra.  It is in the centre of the Eurobodalla Shire which other main towns are Batemans Bay and Narooma.  The Shire offers a wide variety of activities, has a range of excellent beaches and waterways and is a great place to visit or holiday.

The Moruya Jockey Club races 12 times a year. The feature meetings include the Narooma and Moruya Cups in January, the Batemans Bay Cup in September and the Registered Clubs race day in August.

The racecourse is located on Donnelly Drive at North Head Moruya opposite the Moruya Airport. REX airlines fly to Moruya daily from Sydney.

The current course was opened in 1985. It is an excellent all-weather track being on a sand base with a bore water irrigation system.

The racecourse is a picturesque country course with plenty of grassed areas for a picnic. The Club has small marquees which can be hired for the day. There are TAB and Bookmakers on course for all meetings. The Club runs a full bar and food is available on course. Corporate activities can be arranged including very attractive sponsorship packages.

Children’s entertainment is usually available and there are Fashions on the Field at all the major meetings.

The track is home to about 25 trainers and up to 100 horses are in training or spelling at any time.  Any of these trainers would be happy to talk to you if you are interested in becoming involved in racing a horse.
