Griffith Jockey Club

Griffith Jockey Club holds one Race Meeting a year on the second Saturday in September. We have a small but dedicated Committee who organise the day. We are well supported by the many generous business houses in town who sponsor our event. We have a very popular Fashions on the Field competition which is a highlight of the day for many. We have a band providing entertainment between races later in the day and children’s activities are also provided. Bar, canteen and bookmakers are also available at Dalton Park.

Griffith Jockey Club was formed in 1964 to replace the Griffith Race Club which had been disbanded years earlier. The first President was Dr W Dalton and the club ran successfully for many years. The club went into recess in 2004 due to lack of numbers but was reformed in 2009 with successful meetings held since then. The Griffith Races are a big day for Griffith and district residents, it has become an important social event on our yearly calendar.

The Griffith Racecourse is located at Dalton Park, Remembrance Drive and is about 4 kms from the centre of town. The Course proper, consisting of a kikuyu surface, is 1600m plus a 200m chute. The track has an automated sprinkler system that provides an efficient and effective irrigation to our track.
